New Find

This great new design from White Upholstery came across my desk today. Named the George Wing Chair it looks as regal as it's name. I 'm headed down to the trade showroom tomorrow to check out the comfort level. It's sure to pass the test, it looks like the type of chair you can sink into with a good book.

Beach House

I must be restless as I have been looking at dream worthy property again! This beach house a few hours north of Sydney has all the items on my check list (except the price tag). It's almost impossible to focus on the beautiful architectural elements of the home with a view like that.

Up and Racing

In honor of the fabulous horse race and all round great style event that is the Melbourne Cup I thought I would do a post on my favourite cup marque. This beautiful bubble palace for Moet-Chandon dates back to the 2005 cup, however it still rates among the top marque designs. The theme devised by PTW Architects for Moet-Chandon was "bubble-ism" whatever that means? I am still amazed by the Lycra dome ceiling and the surreal environment it created. PTW used some other luminous elements like ghost chairs and mirrored surfaces to highlight the effect.

Penthouse Perfection

This penthouse currently for sale in Sydney around the corner from my beloved Paddington takes my breath away. A roof top garden with spectacular views sets it apart from anything else on the market. It has been listed for a while now, maybe the price is off. I can't imagine why it hasn't been snapped up by some lucky buyer yet.

Bathing Beauty

I have long had a soft spot for serene spa like bathrooms. In my opinon this display bathroom designed by Traditional Homes Robert Young is one of the most spectatular I have seen in a long time. His choices are bold, resulting a real sense of theatre in the room. The first image would have to be my favourite with the frestanding bath floating in the middle of the room on a marble tile carpet framed by the pale green shutter doors. The dramatic glass mosaic tile mural from Ann Sacks above the vanity is the icing on the cake!

Designed by Phoebe Howard

Designed by Sarah Richardson

I was emailed a new addition to White Upholstery's sofa line which I can't wait to use on a job. I think it would work well used in an entrance way or as banquet seating for a dining space. Here are some of my favorite banquet set ups to fall in love with!

Amoire From Bronte Tram

Velvet Wing Chair From Bronte Tram

This weekend I convinced my long suffering husband to come on a shopping trip to source some one off pieces for the baby's nursery. As we are not finding out the sex I have decided on a colour scheme of silver, white, grey and aqua. I came across two great items at Bronte Tram. I'm think of purchasing this armoire and having it silver leafed, I might even add two drops of aqua toile behind the wire mesh in the doors.

Hamptons Style Installation

Ornate mirror for above the dining table.

Dining chairs in the meals area, lantern lighting is being installed above the table.

Fabric selections for the job.

This Friday I am installing a job that has been many months in the planning. The design has a destinct Hamptons feel and I am excited to see it all come together for the client. Here are some of the pieces we are using and the fabric selections. My personal favourite is the navy and white ticking stripe fabric that is going on the occasional chairs. The sisal flooring and textured wallpaper I have specified will complete the look. Stay tuned for the finished pics!

Bree, Leigh & Baby Make Three!

If anyone has seen me lately waddling around the fabric houses in Sydney you may have notice that my waistline is expanding. My husband and I are over the moon to announce that we are expecting our first child. I am four months pregnant, this explains why I have been slightly slower of late (it's not easy getting around town in heels when your pregnant).

Now the fun begins, decorating the nursery! I will be sure to post pics once I have finished.

Sala Sanctuary

entrance to the spa

roof detail on the outdoor restaurant

outdoor bathroom in our private pool villa

freestanding egg bath carved out of stone

cabanas overlooking the beach

private beach at the hotel

You may have noticed my absence from the blog over the last few days. I was fortunate enough to be taking a few days rest and relaxation with my husband in Thailand. We stayed at the chilled out Sala resort and indulged in their luxurious spa treatments. It was the perfect way to recharge before the pre christmas design rush.

Seneca Textiles

I am loving Seneca linens at the moment. The quality is exceptional and the designs are timeless classics. The greek key design in black and white is a favourite of my, I just can't resist that colour combination.

Gift Fair

I have just got back from the gift fair and I am exhausted. Maybe it wasn't a great idea to wear my new 12 inch heels! I purchased lots of quirky vintage inspired pieces like the ones above from my favorite home wares supplier CAM. I'm particularly partial to the vintage ceramic boxes, I can just envisage them storing jewelry and treasured trinkets.

Flower Therapy

I have been a bit exhausted of late, I feel like I'm running myself into the ground. My thoughtful husband has obviously noticed this, yesterday he brought me home these vibrant orchids to give me a lift. He told me he had chosen them because they would match my aqua cushions on the bench seat in our kitchen. I was flabbergasted obviously the man has been listening to me while I prattle on about design and how I like my flowers to co-ordinate with the colour scheme of a room. What can I say I think he is developing an eye for these things.

Style My World

The October issue of Home Beautiful has just been released featuring a bathroom I styled in two different themes. I used the same white room and dressed it up to look "Cool & Glamours" and then restyled it to give a distinctively "Eco Chic" feel. I have attached a few images from the magazine, if they wet your appetite go out and grab yourself a copy of the issue. Inside there are plenty more beautiful images and great tips on how to dress up your bathroom.

Bedroom Snippet

I apoligise for my lack of attention to the site this week, I have been flat out looking after my lovely clients. Given I have not posted anything new since Monday I thought I better leave you with something for the weekend. These pictures are of a bedroom I did for a client a little while ago. As you can see from the photo's I have no claim to fame as a photographer. This room is very simple, however the combination of the silk paisley print along with the silver nail head bed detail add a touch of class.

Spring Solutions

Now that spring has sprung here, I thought I should share with you these great outdoor furniture solutions. New Zealand based Solaire Furniture manufacture sofas that are suitable for outdoor use. They are made of marine grade foam and use outdoor rated fabrics. The options are limitless and they will make almost any sofa design you can come up with. I think they make a great change to the timber or rattan outdoor sofas that we see everywhere. You truly can create an outdoor room with Solaire's innovative designs.

Thomas Pheasant

The home of celebrated US interior designer Thomas Pheasant has been much photographed and talked about lately. I just love the restraint he has used and the sense of calm throughout the home. His bathroom is my idea of heaven, perfect in every way. I do think that someone got a little carried away retouching though, it looks like they have photoshoped out one of the legs on the bathroom ottomans.

Island Wedding

Beauty is found in simplicity. This saying proved true at the wedding of my good friends Tim and Storm Ivers. The tropical island backdrop set the scene and simple white floral combinations and candle light did the rest. What can I say less is more!

Collette Dinnigans Paddington Pile

Today I returned from my week in Queensland sunkissed and happy. I picked up the weekend papers from my porch and found this gem inside. For those of your who have being following my blog you may remember my post on fashion designer Collette Dinnigans new Paddington home, well she has just listed her redundant Paddington pad with a ten million dollar plus price tag. I jumped on line straight away to download the pictures as any good realestate stalker would and here they are for you to view. I could move in tomorrow and not change a thing!

I'm traveling up to Queensland for a friends island wedding, so I will be signing off for a week. I hope everyone has a great weekend and I will be back posting again soon.
